Mia is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in working with youth, caregivers, and families who have experienced complex trauma and behavioral challenges. Having received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology at California State University Chico, Mia has always had a passion for working with people to seek to understand what drives adaptive and maladaptive behaviors. She went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy at Dominican University of California. In graduate school, she trained as a therapist at Homeward Bound, where she practiced individual and group psychotherapy with adolescents and adults suffering from chronic homelessness, severe mental illness and substance use. She also worked as a School Counselor at several elementary schools in the Novato Unified School District, providing behavioral and crisis intervention, as well as case management.  

Mia spent five years working in community-based mental health as a Clinician and Lead Clinician at Seneca Family of Agencies. She led multidisciplinary teams and worked closely with youth, parents and families struggling with a wide range of complex psychological, relational, and behavioral needs within Child Welfare, Behavioral Health and Human Services and school districts across Marin.

Mia is passionate about working with youth, young adults, couples and families to empower them to cultivate self-awareness, compassion and acceptance in their healing process. She is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is eager to help individuals develop the skills needed to live an authentic and meaningful life.
